At RigRun, we are more than just a company

we’re a team that truly understands the challenges of life on remote worksites because we’ve lived it ourselves.

Louise Martin and Rachel Gill, both BSc Hons Health Science graduates from the University of Aberdeen, spent over 12 years traveling to and working on remote worksites across the globe. From oil rigs and platforms to drilling ships and beyond, we’ve experienced the unique demands of these environments firsthand—long working hours, shared cabins, extreme weather, and the emotional toll of being far from family and friends – often missing important occasions. We’ve worked alongside culturally diverse crews, facing the same challenges and forming the same bonds that make these workplaces both tough and rewarding.

During our time offshore, we saw the critical need for health and wellbeing initiatives tailored to these unique environments. We rolled up our sleeves, designing and delivering in-person programmes that engaged crews and helped them stay physically, mentally, and socially healthy. Along the way, we pursued further qualifications in fitness training, cardiovascular health, coaching, mindfulness, mental health first aid, psychological resilience, and more. Globally, we became trusted by some of the world’s leading operators and drilling companies to help their people thrive in demanding conditions.
But we knew we could do more. In 2011, we set out to create something truly special—a programme built specifically for remote worksites. That’s how RigRun was born. At first, it was a simple, paper-based programme, where crews logged their activities on a clipboard, and medics faxed the sheets back to us (offshore WiFi wasn’t a thing yet!). Over time, and thanks to invaluable feedback from crews, RigRun evolved into the fully operational app it is today. Designed specifically for the challenges of remote worksites, it handles low-bandwidth and no-internet conditions with ease, making it accessible to crews wherever they are in the world.

While there are countless corporate wellness programs out there, none cater specifically to remote worksite crews—except RigRun. Our programme is purpose-built to meet the unique needs of these environments, helping crews build a sense of camaraderie and stay physically, mentally, and socially healthy, no matter where they’re stationed.

At RigRun, we’re not just delivering a service—we’re sharing our experience, our passion, and our belief that remote worksite crews deserve a programme that truly understands them. Because for us, it’s not just work. It’s personal.
