The Athlete Mindset

29th May 2023 12:00 BST

Setbacks happen, and the world’s top athletes are not immune.

And though they encounter adversity and low motivation levels, just like the rest of us, they overcome these obstacles and stay focused on their goal to achieve success in their field.

Sharing personal experiences and stories of inspirational people he’s met during his running career, Scottish champion athlete and charity founder Myles Edwards will demonstrate how so much of overcoming adversity is linked to mindset.

During this inspirational webinar, Myles will motivate and inspire you to maintain your gains and increased activity level from the RigRun 6-week competition while preparing you for the Qualifiers event in September.

He will discuss how to:

  • Maintain your motivation to work out, whether you’re working away from home or on leave
  • Bounce back from injury or illness, and not let fear hold you back
  • Appreciate your wins, overcome obstacles and accept losses with grace

Get ready to embrace an athlete mindset. And who knows, maybe we’ll see you going for glory at the next RigRun event!

About the Speaker:
Following in the footsteps of his dad, marathon runner Mel Edwards MBE, Myles Edwards initially focused on running 1,500m distances. Since winning the Scottish Championships outdoors in 2015, and the indoors in 2015 and 2022, he has started running longer distances, completing his first ½ marathon in 68 minutes 57 seconds just recently. Beyond the track, Myles runs the Gathimba Edwards Foundation which supports children and families in Kenya through education, house building, food, farming & psychosocial support.
