The Competition

Compete for the RigRun 2022 Cup against offshore sites and win prizes along the way.

RigRun is a six-week team event where offshore sites compete to win the 2022 RigRun Cup.

The event comprises a four-week group stage and two weeks of finals.

During the group stage, a team competes against three other teams. Top two teams qualify for the finals. The remaining teams meet in the Challenge Shield.

During the finals, each team plays 3 x 72- hour head-to-head matches against other teams. The team that wins the most matches are crowned 2022 champions.

Onshore Exercise also counts

Clock up the points exercising and support your team while on shore leave.

Intra-company event

Take on colleagues with our Intra-company Board and compete against other sites in your company. Team scoring highest number of points at the end of the six weeks wins the Intra-company cup

Workouts

Every 30-minutes of exercise scores 1onepoint for your team and is capped at three points in any 24-hour period.

Exercise 24-hour period 90 minutes 3 – points 60 minutes 2 – points 30 minutes 1 – point

Please note scores falling between whole numbers at the end of a 24-hour period will round down to the nearest whole number*.

You do not need to do all your exercise in one session. Remember to always exercise safely and according to your fitness level/health status.

*Example: Scores sitting at 1.5 points where no further exercise is taken for the rest of that 24-hour period, the final score for that day will be 1 point. But an additional 15-minutes of exercise will increase points to the next whole number – in this case two points for the day.

Example:

Maximum 90 mins of low intensity exercise daily earns your team 1pt and puts you halfway to the next level • 15 mins of high intensity exercise reaches the 2nd points level • Finally an additional 30 mins high intensity exercise will gain the maximum 3pts.

Prizes

Individuals can win prizes for minutes spent exercising. These are set at a realistic level to appeal to all gym users.

As well as prizes for lower levels of achievement, RigRun has also set targets at higher levels to inspire and push the regular gym users. There’s a challenge for everyone participating in RigRun.

Handicap System

To make games fairer and more competitive, installations with small and medium sized POBs are given a handicap to ensure they can compete fairly against the larger installations.

 

RigRun Highlights

  • Since 2012 over 30,000 offshore personnel from around the globe have participated in RigRun
  • On average participation levels are 70% of the POB
  • Participants rated their overall enjoyment of RigRun 2019 as 4.5/5 or 100% of participants said they wanted to take part in RigRun again in 2020
  • The average number of miles exercised per participant in the 2019 competition was 56 – equivalent to over two marathons, a total of 232,000 miles logged as exercise on the RigRun touchscreen tablets – equivalent to 9.3 times around the earth.

RigRun® Tip

It’s more important this year than ever before to work as a team. The gym maybe closed offshore or limited to the number of people who can exercise at any one time. So get organised and take it turns. You can also exercise from your cabin or your office if you have one. Remember our Facebook Live classes and come prepared with towels and water bottles.
