Over six weeks, RigRun brings production, drilling and refinery crews together to compete in the ultimate offshore fitness challenge.

Working together, participants earn points that contribute to their team’s overall score. And though we love to see the bonds that form as teams try to climb the leaderboards and beat the competition, RigRun is also an individual challenge.

Everyone who participates in RigRun works toward their own prize milestones. At each exercise milestone, they earn a reward, and we’re not talking about naff digital tokens! We mean prizes that people are pleased to win. And, as a bonus, every award contributes to helping society and the circular economy.

We’re proud to say that all prizes for RigRun 2023 are sustainable. Whether they help enhance the natural environment via tree planting or protect the planet by using recycled materials, all prizes benefit society. And today, we’re sharing just a few of them.

60 MINUTES OF EXERCISE: RIVER DEE TRUST DONATION

For completing just one hour of exercise during the RigRun Fitness Challenge, participants will have a donation made in their name to the River Dee Trust’s ‘One Million Trees’ Project.

With the goal of planting one million native trees along the Dee’s banks, this ambitious nature restoration project is supported entirely by sponsorship. The trees planted along the banks will not only bring back areas of lost landscape but will also help protect the local salmon and wildlife populations by shading and cooling their natural habitat.

In addition, when you achieve the 60-minute milestone, you’ll also be entered into our weekly draw to win a Garmin solar-powered watch, a timepiece that gives you up to 54 days with no charging.

500 MINUTES OF EXERCISE: ODDBALL BOXERS OR A GIFT CARD

You might be thinking this prize is a bit (ahem) pants. But hear us out. The fantastic team at Oddballs are on a mission. They want to create comfortable, colourful underwear for everyone, all in the name of a good cause. Explicitly set up to raise awareness of Testicular Cancer, money from every sale is donated to charities that help support male and female health. Since 2014, they’ve given over £650,000 to charity, and with the aim of this figure reaching £1m by 2023, we’re thrilled to support them in achieving their goal.

1,000 MINUTES OF EXERCISE: RECYCLED FLEECE JUMPER

Even though you’ll be working up a sweat to get to 1,000 minutes of exercise, we’re sure you’ll still benefit from a bit of warmth. For reaching the 1,000-minute milestone, participants will receive a Russell fleece jumper. Made from 100% recycled anti-pill compact fleece material, it is cosy without being bulky.
By using chemicals responsibly and sourcing products that have been produced sustainably, Russell jumpers minimise your environmental impact while keeping you shielded from the cold.

2,000 MINUTES OF EXERCISE: RECYCLED WATER BOTTLE

Last but not least, one of our most popular prizes – the Ocean Bottle.

Maintaining its temperature for up to 6 hours and holding 500ml of fluid, the ocean bottle is perfect for keeping RigRun participants hydrated during their workouts (or for keeping them warm on a frosty night offshore).
With each bottle the B Corp-certified company sells, they fund the retrieval of 1,000 plastic bottles that would have otherwise ended up in the ocean. The collectors, who live in coastal communities, are given money for the plastic they collect, allowing them to pay for essential needs such as healthcare and education.

We’re very proud of the sustainable prizes we have on offer for RigRun 2023 participants, and as we work through the final stages of achieving B-Corp status, we are committed to offering prizes that help society and contribute to the circular economy.
